About
Edmonton's best, by the numbers.
Best of Edmonton lists the highest-rated businesses in Edmonton across 146 categories, from plumbers to dentists, and lets you narrow any list to your district or neighbourhood.
Every list is built from Google's own ratings and review counts. We do not rate businesses ourselves, sell placement, or add businesses by hand: a business is listed because Google lists it among the top results for its category in Edmonton, and it is ordered by what its customers say.

How the ranking works
Ranked by a Bayesian average of Google rating and review count (prior weight 50 reviews).
The score is (v ÷ (v + m)) × R + (m ÷ (v + m)) × C, where R is the Google rating, v the number of reviews, C the mean rating of all listed businesses (4.68) and m a prior weight of 50 reviews. A new business with a few perfect reviews therefore ranks below an established one with hundreds of near-perfect ones. Businesses without a Google rating are listed last, alphabetically.
Districts and neighbourhoods are the City of Edmonton's own planning boundaries; a business is placed by its Google map coordinates. Businesses outside the city limits are left out, even with an Edmonton address.

For business owners
Want your business higher on these lists?
Rankings can't be bought. Every position on this site comes from Google's rating and review count, and we never move a business by hand.
What does move a business is what customers see on Google: a complete Google Business Profile, a steady flow of recent reviews, and a website that says plainly what you do and where. Get those right and you climb here, on Google Maps and in the search results at the same time.
The same signals now decide who gets recommended when someone asks ChatGPT, Google's AI answers or a voice assistant for "a good plumber near me". Those tools lean on the reviews, listings and plain descriptions already out there, so a business that is easy to find and clearly described gets named, and one that is not gets left out of the answer entirely.
